Why not pull half the GW2 team away to satisfy the GW1 fans, for a little bit? Instead it seems they pulled the one guy working on GW1 away recently to help with the GW2 demo.

OT, I guess nerfing the overpowered stuff is better than letting it continue. But to be honest I think I would rather have more random and frequent updates, than working on one profession at a time. I play all 10 professions, so to me thats more exciting.
GW2 is not an "expansion pack" to GW1. Talk about lame arguments....

They have 100+ people working full time on one game, and 3-4 on another. GW1's effectively on life support until GW2 comes out, and even as is we're still getting some decent updates. They're coming out incredibly slowly, but they're still quality.

And I had a problem with my Guru account. My real date on guru anyways is Jan 2007.

Anyways. I never payed much attention to monks. Looking at Smiter's boon now, WOW WTF kind of skill is this? I used to think every skill had a good purpose, but this skill is just AWFUL!

I've got a few good ideas in mind but I'm not going to post because it won't matter.

This.

ANet doesn't charge a monthly fee, so how do you expect them to be able to pay their emplyees for the stuff they crank out? You're gettings tons of free replay value, so quit bitching. At least there's any support/updates at all, considering the small staff available, and the lack of monthly income.

I would say the person you quoted is talking about expansion to GW2 when they do come out.I wouldn't say that GW is on life support as some of us won't be moving over to GW2 as there are certain professions left out which we prefer to play or start off as our main.

/facepalm

His argument is that he sees the lack of updates of GW1 now (because they're working primarily on GW2) as a sign that when they start work on an expansion to GW2, we'll see a similar drop in updates. I was pointing out how idiotic that is, because GW2 is not an expansion to GW1. If they're working on an expansion to GW2, it's 1) a smaller project than coding all of GW2 was/is, and 2) means that GW2 is still their main focus, and they'd still have 100+ people working on it in some capacity. A better comparison would be the times we were waiting for Factions and Nightfall to come out, times when, hey look at that, we got a ton of updates.

This really shouldn't have required a second post to explain.

Usually, when things like that happen there was a change of plans/priorites. After more than two years after the release of GWEN you shouldn't wait for something GW1 related. Wait for the next profession or gameplay reveal of GW2 instead.

You think the Live Team sits plays Beer Pong all day or something? Because it does take longer then you think. It's not as simple as changing an XML document. You actually have to recode the entire skill. With only 4 (?) people on the Live Team, you do a WHOLE skill balance update in reasonable time + working on side projects for GW1. Even once they actually change the code they still have to make sure it's balanced in-game and that there is no bugs.

Seriously people...coding itself is rather easy. It just takes a ton of time and effort

Yes, just because someone made some poor business decisions (like taking the majority of the manpower off the existing game that they could have continued expanding to actually have "monthly income", instead of trying to maintain 3+ years of development on sales of GW 1 but only allotting a skeleton crew to maintain their cash cow) doesn't make it not a lame excuse.

Oh great. They're gonna dick with Imbagons...

*looks at the past 3 years of "GW2 is vaporware!" and "lol GW is ded!" threads*
You wanted them to take longer?!?

They cannot possibly make any other paragon build competitive unless Imbagons simultaneously die. It is the uber-paragon, the absolute pinnacle of what a party-wide support player can do; to make anything else even remotely attractive would be to just create a new OP-ed build to screw with PvE even more.

I'm pretty sure that means they could change anything about the Paragon, EXCEPT the Imbagon.

Skyy, I get your point and its valid. Maybe the GW2 expansions wont be as bad a drain on resources. However, its still no reason to have 4 people left on GW1 when GW2 seems to still be pretty far away. If you take 4 people away from GW2 you slow the release date by like what? 4%? Even if GW2 is a year away thats only two weeks. If thats the case, then if you add those 4 people to GW1 you double the manpower, then you can get updates out twice as fast. In the meantime, you would keep your fanbase happy.

I love playing GW, and I'm pretty sure ill love GW2 aswell. I just wish they didnt let GW become so stale inbetween the long wait for GW2.

I agree completely with this. Doubling the manpower for GW1's team while reducing the work on GW2 by a measly 4%... it seems like this would be a good plan. I can understand having a lot more people working on GW2 than on maintaining GW1, but the current ratio of ~100:4 is kind of rediculous.

I am pretty sure there will be updates and small content releases to keep those still interested in the game especially since they aren't going to be playing GW2 like myself. It is GW not GW1 this game is helping fund most of NCSoft projects.

Not really. The box sales for GW1 have died down a lot. Aion (korea) and Lineage subs is what's funding NCSoft/Anet.
